Philadelphia Police post year-end data
Open data published this morning show 2,327 total shooting victims recorded in Philadelphia during 2021, representing a 3.6 percent in comparison with 2020. Fatal shootings were up 17.3 percent compared to the previous year, with 486 people shot to death in the city during 2021. Read More

New grant ensures next round of Credible Messenger Reporting Project
The Independence Public Media Foundation announced $4 million in grants supporting community media-makers, journalism, film and digital equity projects, including $100,000 from its Community Voices Fund to refine and expand our Credible Messenger Reporting Project. Project design and planning are underway now and we will post a call for applications very early in the new year for new work to be produced and distributed next spring. Read More
Community gathers for screening of “The Lasting Impact”
A crowd of community members gathered Sunday to watch the in-person premier of the short documentary “The Lasting Impact: The Emotional Scars Gun Violence Leaves Behind,” which centers around the stories of three co-victims of gun violence who worked together to show the long-lasting effects loss can have on friends, family and community members.
